dollface of the week: Sarah Nixey

i really enjoyed my post about la roux, lady gaga and co and their fashion frenzie (i quote my boyfriend who just read this first sentence: "modesty is such a rare thing, is it not, hm, dear?"), and i'm counting on you that you did as well, so i thought it's time for giving these women (i was gonna put fashionistas, but nurr, artistes are always fashionable) a little space and time on this blog.
so, inspired by my rediscovering of black box recorder, i bring you sarah nixey. the name itself is dreamy. and so is she! she's so refined, and wikipedia tells me she's a dorset native. my love affair with britishness actually was born in dorset (poole and bournemouth), too. ah, sarah! nixey! i threw in another bbr tune as well.

i'm very positive that the blonde pictures are post-black box recorder, while the last one is proper vintage sarah nixey. anyways, they are said to be releasing a new album in 2009, cannot wait.

black box recorder - the art of driving

why use cryptic lyrics as a headline when using the name of the band and the song is much easier and easily provides you with a genuine "dollface is candysweet" playlist. i'm really smart you know, i got the glasses to go with it.
i'm not smart enough though to realise that i have so so so much revision to do, and after i will have taken a stroll to the brand new supermarket nearby (special offers, i'm still a poor student), i get cracking again. i will have to take the bus actually, the art of driving i have accomplished really is no use without a car. sadness.
anyways, yet another new item i got in primark, plus the outfit i wore for my boyfriend's 22nd (we went for sushi), plus my adorable pink mini dress from new yorker that has been trusty friend throughout the season. here goes:

poor quality pictures, high quality tulip skirt with detachable braces, so so nice! big bum effect danger though, oh well.

and of course the song. i was heavily into this band when i was 17 and they have lost none of their charm. kind of forgot about them, but have just checked and rejoiced over the fact that they are having a sort of comeback. roll on late 90s indie!

your touch intensifies

i'm turning into a hardcore gamer, i can't get away from the xbox my boyfriend got as a purely personal gadget. now he has to share. tiger woods pga tour 2007 is addictive, mainly because you can create a golfer that looks like yourself, how good is that? maybe i'll manage to take a screencap of my golfing alter ego.
anyways, here is an update on the latest primark finds:


chequered shirt and pinstriped shirt-dress, each were only 11 pound, owl necklace (poor owlie has lost one eye already) was only 2 pound, i think.
i'm not overly keen on vintage clothing, unless i know the person who wore the stuff before, so i happily received this silk scarf from my nan the other day:

this time... I'm gonna live life my way

so i'm back from 5 days spent in oldham, with a ton of new clothes and a runny nose. two very essential things the visitor takes home from a holiday in chilly england. my shopping marathon began and ended in primark manchester, the best primark shop, i like to think. i left as usual with two massive bags worth a fortune, from a student's point of view. i also collected my parcel from asos and i am slightly disappointed in the (still cute) pink ballerina shoes. the quality is poor, but they were only 3 pound after all...
i managed a visit in one of my favourite places in mancs, the urbis. even if you're not into culture while on a mini break, you shouldn't miss the urbis. really wanted to make it to manchester art gallery but my company wasn't so keen. some of the fashion sightings in the urbis:


i will show you all of my new stuff soon, for now, an update on my new look purchase. i am very very happy with the two bargain dresses! i actually checked them out while in the new look shops in stockport and manchester and worried whether they would fit, but they do!


i also invested in a 2nd pair of jeggings, i mean, how good are they if you have to pack light? they come in so handy!
